Methyl acetate (also known as methyl ethanoate and acetic acid methyl ester) is a carboxylate ester with a molecular formula of C3H6O2. It is a clear, colorless liquid that has a typical ester odour similar to glues and nail polish removers. It is very flammable with a flashpoint of -10° C and a flammability rating of 3.
